Students invited to enter flower show drawing competition (with photo)

    Primary and Secondary school students interested in joining the Nanyang Commercial Bank Student Drawing Competition of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2006 are now invited to enrol through their schools.

     Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the competition will be held on March 3 (Friday) from 9am to noon at Victoria Park.

     The competition will feature students' drawings of exquisite flowers and unique garden displays in the showground with a view to enhancing their awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.

     Entries should be associated with the "Hong Kong Flower Show 2006". Participants may depict any flowers or garden displays in the showground by means of sketching or other forms of drawing and painting.

     The competition will be conducted in four categories, they are the Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three); Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six); Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three); and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Seven).

     In addition to the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, 10 entries will be highly commended and 30 certificates of merit will be awarded in each category. There will be an overall winner each in the Primary School Section and the Secondary School Section.

     A prospectus and entry form can be downloaded from the LCSD website, www.lcsd.gov.hk. Completed forms should be sent to the "Chairman of Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2006" at the Shroff Office, Kowloon Park Sports Centre, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, or submitted by fax (2724 4197) by January 26 (Thursday).

     Winning entries of champion, 1st and 2nd runner-up and those highly commended will be exhibited at the showground at Victoria Park from March 4 to 12. All winning entries will then be exhibited at the Kowloon Park Arcade from April 4 to May 4. Thereafter, they will be uploaded to the LCSD website from May to June for public viewing.
