SCS visits Yuen Long District (with photos)
*******************************************
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, today (April 17) visited Yuen Long District, where he toured Yuen Kong Kindergarten and the Junior Police Call activity centre, and met with members of the Yuen Long District Council (YLDC) to learn more about developments in the district and the needs of the community.

Accompanied by the Chairman of the YLDC, Mr Shum Ho-kit, and the District Officer (Yuen Long), Mr Enoch Yuen, Mr Law met with YLDC members and exchanged views on issues of concern.

Mr Law visited Yuen Kong Kindergarten to learn about its teaching philosophy on early childhood education and the developments of the Kindergarten in the past 10 years. At present, Yuen Kong Kindergarten has over 60 students enrolled, and about 30 per cent of them are non-ethnic Chinese. Mr Law said he was pleased to learn that the kindergarten is committed to creating an inclusive culture for children with different cultural backgrounds so that they can learn and grow in a harmonious environment.

Before concluding his visit, Mr Law toured the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre and Integrated Youth Training Camp to learn about its services and training facilities. He also met with members of Yuen Long District Senior Police Call who were taking part in activities there. Opened in August last year, the Centre provides a variety of activities for members of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call, youth groups and ethnic minorities, so as to raise their awareness of crime prevention, promote social responsibility and enhance leadership skills.
