************************************************************

The Acting Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, today (May 6) expressed deep condolences on the passing of the Most Venerable Wing Sing, the Honorary President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association.

"After joining the Association in 1966, the Most Venerable Wing Sing played an important role in various charity services, including establishing schools, and he made enormous contributions to the community over the past few decades," Mr Yeung said.

"As a long-established charitable organisation and school sponsoring body, the Association currently runs 13 secondary schools, seven primary schools, seven kindergartens and one nursery, and aims at fostering students to be good citizens with both knowledge and integrity."

Mr Yeung said he believed that the Association would continue to uphold the Most Venerable Wing Sing's commitment to philanthropy and make contributions to the long-term development of education in Hong Kong.
