Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Heng Shung Construction Company Limited, Wo Shun Engineering Limited and Yau Hop Scaffold General Contractor Co Limited were fined $150,000, $55,000 and $30,000 respectively at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (February 5) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 14, 2014, in Ma On Shan. A worker was struck to death by a falling falsework component while working on the podium between two buildings under construction.
