The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (January 29) extended congratulations to Hong Kong athlete for winning medal for the first time at the 13th National Winter Games (NWG).
"Hong Kong's athletes have the chance to compete and establish friendship with top-notch Mainland athletes in the NWG, which is invaluable. They have displayed great tenacity in the course of the competitions. Hong Kong's athletes have demonstrated sportsmanship and performed brilliantly," Mr Lau said.
The Hong Kong team has won a bronze medal at the NWG. The list of medal won is as follows:

The 13th NWG was held in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region between January 20 and 30. The 26 Hong Kong athletes took part in five final competitions, namely short track speed skating, figure skating, alpine skiing, and two competitions for the first time - women's ice hockey and freestyle skiing (moguls' event).
The NWG, held every four years, is the country's largest elite winter multi-sports event. This is the fifth occasion that the HKSAR taken part in the NWG since 1999.
