In response to media enquiries on whether the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will meet with individual Legislative Council (LegCo) members at their request regarding the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014, the spokesman for the Chief Secretary for Administration's Office said the following today (January 21):
"The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau will continue to seek passage of this bill, which has gone through appropriate consultation procedures and has been scrutinised by the LegCo Bills Committee.
"The Chief Secretary for Administration hopes that LegCo members, in particular the pan-democratic LegCo members, will discharge their duties in debating and scrutinising the bill seriously and vote on it afterwards. She therefore does not consider it necessary to meet with LegCo members on the handling of this bill at this stage."
