Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislations

Ah Yuen Garage Limited was fined $90,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (November 20) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Guarding and Operation of Machinery) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on March 27 this year in Tai Hang. A worker was throttled by the long sleeve of his coat becoming entangled with the revolving drill bit of a bench-type drilling machine and subsequently passed away.
