The Civil Engineering and Development Department today (November 20) signed a contract of about $2,176 million with China Road and Bridge Corporation for the Kai Tak Development - Stage 3 Infrastructure Works for Developments at the Southern Part of the Former Runway.
The contract mainly comprises widening and reconstruction of Shing Cheong Road and part of Cheung Yip Street, construction of a supporting underground structure underneath Shing Cheong Road and Cheung Yip Street, and ancillary works including associated footpaths, street lighting, traffic aids, drainage, sewerage, water mains, district cooling mains and landscaping works.
The works will commence this month for substantial completion in 2019.
The main objective of the works is to provide essential infrastructure at the former south apron to support the planned developments for residential, commercial and other specified uses at the southern part of the former runway in the Kai Tak Development Area.
