The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, today (November 2) led a delegation to Macau to attend the 14th Joint Meeting of Senior Health Officials of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau to exchange views and share experiences on public health issues.
Dr Ko will attend the welcoming dinner of the meeting tonight. In the morning tomorrow (November 3), he will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting, and sign the renewed version of the co-operation agreement on response mechanisms for public health emergencies with the Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Ms Li Bin, and the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government, Mr Tam Chon-weng.
Participating senior health officials of the three places will discuss issues including response mechanisms for large-scale public health emergencies, prevention and control of communicable diseases, tobacco control and community health.
Members of the Hong Kong delegation include the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan; the Controller of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, Dr Leung Ting-hung; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority (HA), Professor John Leong; and the Chief Executive of the HA, Dr Leung Pak-yin.
Dr Ko will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon tomorrow.
