*********************************************************

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is holding the "Hong Kong Exhibition" in the China Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo (Maritime Silk Road Expo) in Dongguan from today (October 29) to October 31. Members of the public are welcome to visit free of charge.

Attending the Expo, the Director of the GDETO, Mr Albert Tang, said, "This year, to tie in with the implementation of the liberalisation of trade in services between Guangdong and Hong Kong and the 'One Belt, One Road' strategy of the Central Government, the GDETO has for the first time organised the 'Hong Kong Exhibition' at the Maritime Silk Road Expo to introduce to Mainland and overseas visitors Hong Kong's role to complement the national 'One Belt, One Road' strategy and Hong Kong's strengths in financial services, professional services, commerce and trade, the maritime sector and tourism."

He said, "In fostering the development of the national 'One Belt, One Road' strategy, Hong Kong, as a 'super-connector' between the Mainland and the rest of the world, can play a role as an investor, an intermediary and a supporter. We encourage Mainland enterprises to make use of Hong Kong's legal, arbitration, accounting and other professional services that are of international standard, and tap into Hong Kong's strengths in its international business network, talents in professional management and free capital market, using Hong Kong as a platform to 'go global' and participate in the building of 'One Belt, One Road'."

The "Hong Kong Exhibition" is being held at the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center in Dongguan. 3D exhibits, promotional videos and extensive photos are used to showcase Hong Kong's exciting city landscape and its vibrancy as an international metropolis. The Maritime Silk Road Expo is organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee, and co-organised by the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Dongguan Municipal Government.
