Contractor fined for violation of safety legislations

Vibro (HK) Limited was fined $70,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (October 23) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on December 8 last year in Wan Chai. A rigger fell some 11 metres to his death while three other workers were injured when the working platform of a bored pile casing on which they were working suddenly subsided.
