Police are investigating a traffic accident in Wan Chai this morning (September 2) in which a 70-year-old woman died.
About 11.03am, a coach driven by a 62-year-old man was travelling along eastbound of Johnston Road. When reaching near 35 Johnston Road, it reportedly knocked down the 70-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
The woman was trapped under the coach and rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries to the lower part of her body, she was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.34am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.
