The following is issued on behalf of the Road Safety Council:
Road Safety Council (RSC) and Traffic New Territories South of Hong Kong Police Force will jointly hold the Sharp Smart Elderly Pedestrian Safety Promotion Campaign Kick-off Ceremony at 2.30pm tomorrow (August 28) at Lei Muk Shue Community Hall, Tsuen Wan.
The campaign launch will be officiated by the Chairlady of the Road Safety Campaign Publicity Strategy Working Group, Road Safety Council, Ms Karin Wong; Member of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Road Safety Council, Mr Chan Man-ho; Acting Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic New Territories South, Hong Kong Police Force, Mr Ho Ka-fei; Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Committee, Tsuen Wan District Council, Mr Lo Siu-kit; New Territories South Regional Commander, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol, Mr Cheung Chun-hung; and Road Safety Ambassador of the Traffic New Territories South of the Hong Kong Police Force, Ms Tam Yuk-ying.
In addition to disseminating road safety messages for the elderly through sharing sessions by exemplary pedestrians, an elderly road safety exhibition and seminars, the campaign will also include a children's road safety dancing and singing performance by Wellborn Anglo-Chinese Kindergarten, and a Cantonese opera performance by the Tsuen Wan District Elderly Welfare Association. Members of Senior Police Call will also distribute leaflets to elderly people in Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung, Sha Tin and Tung Chung to remind them about the importance of road safety.
