Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, at a media session on the proposed establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau after attending the meeting of the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council today (February 3):

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I would not want to comment too much on the fisheries (Fisheries Development Loan Fund) item. It has been explained quite adequately by all my colleagues. With respect to the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau, there is a degree of urgency. This item has been raised by the technology sector for quite a few years already. Frankly, it has gone on too long. So we quite proactively want to complete the work for the establishment of the bureau. I think there is a consensus within the technology community as well as the business community. Thank you very much.
