Appointments to Consumer Council

     The Government announced today (December 24) the re-appointment of Professor Wong Yuk-shan as Chairman of the Consumer Council for a term of two years with effect from January 1, 2015.

     The Government also announced today the re-appointment of Ms Grace Chan Man-yee, Ms Jo Jo Chan Shuk-fong, Dr Raymond Leung Siu-hong, Mr Keith Lie Kin-fu, Dr Karen Shum Hau-yan and Professor Wong Kam-fai, as well as the new appointments of Mr Ambrose Lam San-keung, Mr Kevin Lam Sze-cay and Mr Kent Wong Siu-kee, as members of the Consumer Council for a term of two years with effect from January 1, 2015.

     "Professor Wong Yuk-shan has been leading the Council in the past two years since January 2013, during which the Council has successfully undertaken various initiatives to safeguard consumer rights. We are confident that the Council will continue to benefit from Professor Wong's experience and leadership in enhancing its consumer protection work," a Government spokesman said.

     "We are also grateful to the six incumbent members for their continued service on the Council. With three new members, we believe that the Council will continue to undertake its function of protecting consumer interests effectively," the spokesman added.

     Ms Miranda Kwok Pui-fong retired from the Council upon the expiry of her term on  May 2, 2014. Mr Thomas Cheng Kin-hon and Mr Bankee Kwan Pak-hoo will retire from the Council upon the expiry of their terms on December 31, 2014.

     "We would like to express our gratitude to the three retiring members for their contributions to different aspects of the Council's work during their terms," the spokesman said.

     The appointment notice was published in the Gazette today.
