The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, today (November 16) expressed deep condolences on the passing of the Most Venerable Kok Kwong.
"The Most Venerable Kok Kwong participated in the establishment of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association in 1945 and has served as the President of the Association since 1966. Under his leadership, the Association has made tremendous contributions in providing a wide range of social services. The Most Venerable Kok Kwong will be remembered by Hong Kong people forever," Mr Ng said.
"The Hong Kong Buddhist Association has played an active role in providing education services in Hong Kong. The Association now runs 13 secondary schools, seven primary schools, six kindergartens and one nursery. I believe that the Association will uphold the Most Venerable Kok Kwong's commitment to education and continue to make contribution to the long-term development of education in Hong Kong."
Mr Ng said that Hong Kong people would never forget the kindness and the great contributions of the Most Venerable Kok Kwong.
