The Government intends to set up a temporary works area within approximately 2 310 square metres of foreshore and seabed at New Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter to facilitate construction of a dry weather flow interceptor, an additional drainage outfall at Cherry Street box culvert, and ancillary works including earth, drainage and landscaping works, and related temporary works. The objective of the proposed works is to improve the water quality of New Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter by intercepting the polluted dry weather flow inside the existing Cherry Street box culvert.
The works are scheduled to commence in April 2015 and to be completed by December 2019. The extent of the area affected is stated in a notice published today (August 1) in the Government Gazette (www.gld.gov.hk/egazette/pdf/20141831/egn201418314441.pdf).
