Contractor fined for violation of safety rules

A contractor was fined $71,500 at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today (June 26) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 20, 2013, at a construction site in Tsuen Wan. A worker died when he fell to the ground from the top of a parapet on 2/F of a godown while he was engaged in external wall repairing work.
