Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island for public procession

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a public procession to be held on Hong Kong Island this Sunday (June 15).

     The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from about 2pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed:

A. Intermittent road closure

- Rodney Street;

- Tamar Street;

- Eastbound Queensway between Tamar Street and Des Voeux Road Central;

- Southbound Murray Road between Queensway and Harcourt Road;

- Eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queensway;

- Westbound Harcourt Road between the exit of Harcourt Garden car park and Tamar Street;

- Eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;

- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive Office and Central Government Offices car park);

- The fast lane of Garden Road flyover if necessary; and

- Southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

 

B.  Traffic diversion

- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Rodney Street (except for franchised buses);

- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near the exit of Harcourt Garden car park will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;

- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;

- Traffic along eastbound Queensway cannot turn left to northbound Tamar Street;

- Traffic along eastbound Queensway cannot turn left to northbound Rodney Street;

- Traffic along westbound Drake Street cannot turn right to northbound Tamar Street;

- Traffic along southbound Cotton Tree Drive cannot turn left to eastbound Drake Street;

- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Murray Road;

- Traffic along westbound Lambeth Walk must go straight to westbound Chater Road;

- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street;

- Traffic leading from Garden Road flyover to eastbound Queensway will be diverted to northbound Cotton Tree Drive if necessary;

- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;

- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter Tim Wa Avenue(except vehicles heading for Chief Executive Office and Central Government Offices car park); and

- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter southbound Edinburgh Place.

 

C. Restriction on access to/exit from car parks

     Vehicles in car parks along the procession routes may not be permitted to leave or access the car parks during the road closure period.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
