Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 4) seized about three kilogrammes of ketamine and arrested two suspects in an anti-narcotics operation on Hong Kong Island. The market value of the seizure was about $360,000.
Customs officers yesterday afternoon intercepted a 15-year-old boy in Aberdeen and found about two kilogrammes of ketamine in eight boxes placed inside his backpack. In the evening, the officers stopped and searched a 50-year-old man in Sheung Wan and found about one kilogramme of ketamine inside his backpack.
The two arrestees were charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (March 6).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
