The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) wishes to alert members of the public in Hong Kong to a suspicious website with the domain name "www.samstyle.tk". It appears to the HKMA that the website can be used as a proxy for connecting to the official websites of banks in Hong Kong. So far, Chong Hing Bank Limited and Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited have reported to the HKMA that their websites could be accessed through this suspicious website (i.e. www.samstyle.tk/index.pl/00/http/www.chbank.com and www.samstyle.tk/index.pl/00/http/www.fubonbank.com.hk). As it is uncertain whether account information such as logon user name and password may be captured by this suspicious website, bank customers are reminded to always connect to a bank website by typing the authentic website address in the browser or by bookmarking the genuine website for subsequent access, rather than through this suspicious website.
The HKMA has referred the case to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided his or her personal information to the website or has conducted any financial transactions through the website should contact the bank concerned and any local Police Station or the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.
