CE to visit Guangxi

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will lead a delegation to visit Guangxi from November 27 to 29. The delegation includes members of the Consultative Committee on Economic and Trade Co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland; Hong Kong members to the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; representatives from local industrial, commercial and professional sectors; and representatives of the Federation of HK Guangxi Community Organisations.

     Mr Leung will visit China South City Nanning, Wuxiang New District and Guangxi Planning Exhibition Hall on the first day of his visit. He will also meet leaders of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government. The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will accompany Mr Leung for the visit on that day.

     In the morning on November 28, Mr Leung will visit the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and Guangxi Qinzhou Free Trade Port Area in Qinzhou. He will depart for Fangchenggang in the afternoon to visit a local enterprise. Mr Leung will also meet leaders of the Qinzhou and Fangchenggang Municipal Governments. He will return to Nanning in the evening to meet Hong Kong people who work, do business and study there to keep abreast of their living conditions.

     Mr Leung will attend the Guangxi-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Co-operation Exchange Meeting and Guangxi-Hong Kong Business Symposium on November 29. He will visit the Nanning New and High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Hong Kong enterprise operating there. Mr Leung will also meet leaders of the Nanning Municipal Government on the same day.

     Also included in the visit are the Director of Information Services, Mr Michael Wong; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Nick Au Yeung.

     The Chief Executive will depart for Nanning in the morning on November 27 and return to Hong Kong in the evening on November 29. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
