Sham Shui Po Social Enterprise District Carnival cum the Kick-off of Youth Festival

     The Sham Shui Po Social Enterprise District Carnival cum the Kick-off of Youth Festival will be held from noon to 5pm this Sunday (November 24) at the soccer pitch of Lai Chi Kok Park (Stage One). This is an opportunity for the public to enjoy youth performances and help the underprivileged to be self-reliant at the same time.

     Various programmes include youth performances, youth arts handicrafts stalls and a variety show. Twenty-three social enterprises (SEs) funded by the Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme (ESR) of the Home Affairs Department (HAD) will also showcase their products and services including health foods and drinks, organic farm produce, fabric work and accessories, rehabilitation products, massage and domestic services.

     The kick-off ceremony will be held at 3pm. Officiating guests will be the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Raymond Young; the Vice Chairman of Sham Shui Po District Council, Mr Wong Tat-tung; the Deputy Director of Home Affairs, Mr Patrick Li; the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on ESR, Mr Siu Chor-kee; the Chairman of the Committee on Friends of Social Enterprise Award Scheme 2013, Mr Cheung Hing-wah; the Assistant Director of Home Affairs (Special Duties), Mrs Angel Choi; the District Officer (Sham Shui Po), Mr Benjamin Mok; the District Commander (Sham Shui Po) of Hong Kong Police Force, Mr Li Chi-hang; District Leisure Manager (Sham Shui Po) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Ms Camay Lee; the Chairman of Sham Shui Po District Youth Programme Committee (SSPDYPC), Dr Wong Chung-leung and the Convenor of the SSPDYPC Youth Festival Working Group, Mr Chan Wai-ming.

     The award presentation ceremony for the Friends of Social Enterprise Award Scheme 2013 will then be held to give recognition to individuals and organisations who/which have demonstrated support to SEs.

     Organised by the HAD, Sham Shui Po District Office and SSPDYPC, the event is a crossover promotion of SEs and the youth festival, with a view to enhancing youths' and public understanding and promoting sustainable development of SEs as well as encouraging cross-sectoral support for SEs.
