The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a drop of 1 157 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent, when compared to that in September, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (November 20).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 262 547 (see attached table), with a total of 398 685 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.9 per cent and 1.2 per cent to 9 127 cases and 21 801 cases respectively. Single parent cases also dropped by 0.9 per cent to 29 574 cases. Ill-health cases decreased by 0.4 per cent to 25 137 cases.
Old age cases and permanent disability cases both decreased by 0.1 per cent to 151 606 cases and 18 469 cases respectively.
