Two mainland men, aged 65 and 42, were each jailed for four years and four months for conspiracy to use false instruments at District Court today (October 31).
The Court heard that the duo were arrested by officers of Commercial Crime Bureau after they attempted to use counterfeit payment cards to make ATM withdrawals in Tsim Sha Tsui in January this year. A total of 44 counterfeit payment cards were seized in their possessions.
They were later jointly charged with one count of conspiracy to use false instruments. The sentences were handed down today after they pleaded guilty to the charges.
Members of the public are reminded that using counterfeit payment card is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is an imprisonment of 14 years.
