19 building plans approved in August

     The Buildings Department approved 19 building plans in August, with six on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 12 were for commercial developments and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 5 986 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 26 units, and 32 743 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for eight building projects.

     The department also issued 13 occupation permits, with two on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 28 980 sq m, involving 171 units, and 181 645 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in August totalled about $2.7 billion.

     In addition, six demolition consents involving six building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 577 reports about unauthorised building works in August, and issued 1 098 removal orders on unauthorised works.
