Fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung this morning (August 30) in which a 75-year-old man died.

     At about 5am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 40-year-old man was travelling along Castle Peak Road ¡ª Kwai Chung towards Tsuen Wan. When turning into a slip road towards Texaco Road, it reportedly knocked down the 75-year-old man who was pushing a cart on the carriageway.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 5.21am.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1300.
