The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
The Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li, will leave for Beijing today (July 16) for a visit at the invitation of the Supreme People's Court. He will return to Hong Kong on July 19.
While in Beijing, the Chief Justice will meet with officials of the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Ministry of Justice.
He will also call on the Basic Law Committee of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
He will be accompanied by Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal Mr Justice Patrick Chan and Chief Judge of the High Court Mr Justice Andrew Cheung.
