The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the 18 District Councils at the Central Government Offices, Tamar, this morning (May 16).
The Chief Executive said that District Councils are important partners of the Government in district administration. The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen communication with all districts and to listen to the views of the District Council chairmen and vice-chairmen on how District Councils can play a greater role in formulating policies.
Relevant government officials, including the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing; the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan; and the Acting Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, also attended the meeting.
