An operational event at Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) was reported today (May 13) on the website of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co Ltd (DNMC), a spokesperson for the Security Bureau said today.
During a routine inspection of the No. 3 reactor of Phase 2 LNPS, which was under planned refuelling outage, an error was found on the wire connection of an alarm system. Upon further inspection, similar situation was also found on the relevant part of No. 4 reactor. Staff of LNPS immediately rectified the situation. The event has not caused any effect on plant safety, personnel health or the environment. It was classified as a "Level 0" event on the International Nuclear Event Scale, which means it has no safety significance.
The DNMC would disseminate on its website news pertaining to the operation and safety issues of both the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station and LNPS for the information of the general public.
