The Labour Department will hold the Tung Chung Job Fair at Tung Chung Community Hall on May 15 and 16.
A total of 54 organisations will participate at the fair. They mainly come from the retail, catering, transport and airport services industries, offering about 5,200 vacancies. Twenty-seven organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day.
The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as aircraft maintenance trainee, terminal attendant, cargo handler, sales person, waiter/waitress, kitchen assistant, storekeeper, security guard and pest control technician. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
About 80 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $6,000 to $11,000. Around 97 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 64 per cent are open to job seekers lacking relevant experience, and many vacancies are suitable for young people and secondary school graduates.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. Job seekers can also register for employment service at the Labour Department's counter on the spot.
The job fair will be held from 11.30am to 6pm at Tung Chung Community Hall, G/F, Tung Chung Municipal Services Building, 39 Man Tung Road, Tung Chung (MTR Tung Chung Station Exit C, next to North Citygate). Admission is free.
