Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 622 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 33 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.

     The operation concluded at 7pm today (April 22) and a total of 272 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 469 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 153 for other traffic offences.

     Twenty pedestrians and 86 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.  

     Statistics revealed that a total of 700 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to March this year, of which 234 involved pedestrian.  Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 48.3 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
