Four nominations were received by the Returning Officer for the by-election in the Tin Sum Constituency of Sha Tin District Council by the close of the nomination period today (January 31).

A full list of the validly nominated candidates will be published in the gazette after the Returning Officer has validated and confirmed the eligibility of candidature of the nominees.
A poll will be held on March 10 (Sunday) should there be more than one validly nominated candidate in the constituency. The returned candidate will fill the vacant office of an elected member of Sha Tin District Council.
The Electoral Affairs Commission will hold a briefing for candidates and their agents at the Sha Tin District Council conference room, 4/F, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin, New Territories at 6.30pm on February 6 (Wednesday).
The Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities. A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and representatives from the Registration and Electoral Office, Hongkong Post and the Department of Justice will also be present.
