Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which a 72-year-old man was killed in Ma On Shan this afternoon (January 14).
At about 4.07pm, a motorcycle driven by a 35-year-old man was travelling along a carriageway in Yiu On Estate towards Kowloon. When approaching outside Yiu On Estate bus terminus, the motorcycle reportedly knocked down the 72-year-old man who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries in unconscious state, the male pedestrian was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) where he was certified dead at 6.56pm.
The motorcyclist was also injured and was sent to PWH for medical treatment in conscious state. He was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and has been released on police bail.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.
