The Government announced today (November 30) the re-appointment of six serving members and the appointment of four new members to the Hospital Authority, with effect from December 1, 2012.
Mr Chan Bing-woon, Ms Quince Chong Wai-yan, Professor Fok Tai-fai, Mr Ricky Fung Choi-cheung, Professor Lee Sum-ping and Ms Winnie Ng are re-appointed for two years. The new members are Mr William Chan Fu-keung, Mr Lester Garson Huang, Professor Diana Lee Tze-fan and Mr Wong Kwai-huen. They are appointed for two years. Following are brief biographies of the new members:
Mr William Chan Fu-keung was the Human Resources Director of MTR Corporation Ltd from 1998 to 2012. He is now serving as a member of the Appeal Panel on Government's Voluntary Contributions under the Civil Service Provident Fund Scheme, the Pensions Appeal Panel and the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service.
Mr Lester Garson Huang is a solicitor and partner of a legal firm. He is the Chairman of the Radio Television Hong Kong Board of Advisors. He is also a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, the Council of the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, as well as the Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service.
Professor Diana Lee Tze-fan is the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and the Chair Professor of Nursing and Director of the Nethersole School of Nursing of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a member of the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee, the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS and the Council for the AIDS Trust Fund.
Mr Wong Kwai-huen is a solicitor and a law firm consultant. He is now serving as the Chairman of the Copyright Tribunal, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance) and a member of the Airport Authority, the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission and the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Training.
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, welcomed the new members to the Authority. He also thanked the outgoing members, Dr Joseph Lee Kok-long, Mr John Lee Luen-wai and Dr Donald Li Kwok-tung, for their advice and contributions to the Hospital Authority over the years. They will retire from the Hospital Authority with effect from December 1, 2012.
The Hospital Authority, as from December 1, 2012, will comprise a chairman, 23 non-official members, three public officers and one principal officer from the Hospital Authority. The new membership list is as follows:
