United Nations Sanctions (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) (Amendment) Regulation 2012 gazetted

     The Government today (September 28) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) (Amendment) Regulation 2012 (the Amendment Regulation), which came into operation today.

     "The Amendment Regulation amends the existing sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to implement relevant decisions of the Committee established by paragraph 12 of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1718 to expand the scope of sanctions against DPRK under UNSCR 1718 to include a list of additional items, materials, equipment, goods and technology related to ballistic missile programmes," a government spokesman said.

     The Amendment Regulation mainly provides for an expanded scope of items subject to sanctions to include all items, materials, equipment, goods and technology as per UNSC documents S/2012/235 and INFCIRC/254/Rev.10/Part1.
