United Nations Sanctions (Côte d'Ivoire) Regulation 2012 gazetted

     The Government today (September 28) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Côte d'Ivoire) Regulation 2012, which came into operation today.

     "The Regulation implements sanctions against Côte d'Ivoire imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 2045," a government spokesman said.

     The sanctions under the Regulation include:

* prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to Côte d'Ivoire or certain persons connected with Côte d'Ivoire;

* prohibition against making available to, or for the benefit of, certain persons or entities funds or other financial assets or economic resources, or dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources of certain persons or entities;

* prohibition against entry into or transit through the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by certain persons; and

* prohibition against importation of rough diamonds from Côte d'Ivoire.
