Contractors fined for violation of safety rules

Gammon Construction Limited, Hip Hing Construction Company Limited and Majestic Engineering Company Limited were each fined $15,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (September 21) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in Admiralty on October 11 last year, in which a worker was electrocuted while conducting electrical repair work for an exit sign.
