The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a drop of 504 cases compared to July, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 19).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 273,038 (see attached table), with a total of 434,452 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low earnings and single parent cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.4 per cent and 0.8 per cent to 11,067 and 32,151 cases respectively. Unemployment and old age cases also dropped by 0.4 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 25,070 and 153,818 cases respectively.
Permanent disability and ill health cases both registered a slight increase of 0.3 per cent to 18,407 and 25,415 cases respectively.
