Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 57-year-old man was killed in Tai Po this morning (September 11).
At about 5.20am, a taxi driven by the 57-year-old man was travelling along the third lane of Tolo Highway towards Kowloon. When approaching near Kam Shan, the driver reportedly alighted from the taxi after it rammed into the water barrier on the roadside. Then, a private car and a light goods vehicle approaching respectively along the second and the third lane collided with the taxi. The taxi driver was found lying on the ground after the collision.
The taxi driver and the 54-year-old private car driver were injured and rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. The taxi driver was certified dead at 6.40am.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
Police urged anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 3661 3800.
