CS meets with advisory committees (with photos)
***********************************************

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, and the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, together with a Non-official Member of the Executive Council and members of the Preparatory Task Force on the Commission on Poverty, held a consultation session this afternoon (August 7). They listened to the views of related advisory committees' members on existing policies and their implementation as well as the needs of people in different sectors of the community (including people from the grass-roots level, the youth and persons with disabilities), and gained a better understanding of the members' expectations on alleviating poverty on the fronts of labour, education, welfare, family and rehabilitation.

Representatives of the Elderly Commission, the Women's Commission, the Commission on Youth, the Family Council, the Social Welfare Advisory Committee and the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee attended the meeting.

Mrs Lam said, "We would like to thank the members of the advisory committees for their continued service to the Hong Kong public in their respective areas, as well as for sharing with us their experiences accumulated throughout the years. We very much welcome the members of the advisory committees to continue to render constructive advice to the Government to help implement the Chief Executive's plan for the re-establishment of the Commission on Poverty in order to tackle, at a policy level, poverty in Hong Kong."
