Whether it is sunny or rainy, there are still many patients who need blood urgently to save their lives. Although the weather during summer can be adverse, the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) sincerely hopes that the public will continue to support blood donation. Each unit of blood can help up to four patients. Come rain or shine, people are urged to give blood to bring sunshine to the life of patients.
As a token of appreciation for generous blood donations, an "Umbrella with Love" will be presented to donors giving blood from this Thursday (July 12) to July 29. The gift is available while stocks last.
Members of the public who are aged between 16 and 65, weigh over 41 kilograms and are healthy are eligible to be blood donors. Male donors aged 18 or above can give blood every three months whereas female donors can give blood every four months. Youths aged 16 and 17 can donate blood every six months.
