Special traffic arrangements for Dragon Boat Festival

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Saturday (June 23) to facilitate the public to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.

     As a large number of people are expected to turn up at various locations throughout Hong Kong to watch the dragon boat races, traffic will be diverted to ensure a smooth flow.

     Police also appeal to the public to make full use of public transport for attending the races.

     Motorists are advised to drive carefully and to pay attention to special traffic signs and instructions of the Police.

     Vehicles found to be causing obstruction will be towed away without prior notice.

     Details of special traffic arrangements to be implemented in Southern District on Hong Kong Island, and in Sha Tin, Tai Po and Tuen Mun in the New Territories are as follows:

(1) Southern District

     In Aberdeen, Kwun Hoi Path next to the Ocean Court at Aberdeen Praya Road will be closed between 8am and 7pm to all traffic except for the access of local residents, emergency service vehicles and vehicles with permits.

     The taxi stand on Kwun Hoi Path will be suspended between 8am and 5pm.

     In Stanley, Stanley Link Road and Hoi Fung Path will be closed between 8am and 7pm while Stanley New Street and Stanley Market Road will be closed between 7am and 6pm to all traffic except for the access of local residents, emergency service vehicles and vehicles with permits.
         
     Stanley Main Street will be closed between 7am and 11pm.

     All parking spaces along Stanley Link Road and Carmel Road, five on-street metered parking spaces and a disabled parking space at a section of Stanley Beach Road between Stanley Mound Road and Stanley Village Road, as well as the public carpark near the refuse collection point on Stanley Beach Road will be suspended between 6am and 7pm.

     The taxi stand on Stanley Village Road will be relocated to Carmel Road outside Carmelite Monastery between 6am and 7pm.

     In Shek O, 15 parking spaces near the refuse collection point at Shek O Beach public carpark will be suspended between 6am and 7pm.

     In Deep Bay, all metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces, except disabled parking spaces, along Island Road will be suspended between 6am and 7pm.

     In Repulse Bay, the taxi stand near The Repulse Bay on Repulse Bay Road will be suspended between 9am and 7pm.

(2) Sha Tin

     Sand Martin Bridge will be closed to traffic from 7am to 2pm except vehicles with permits..

     A section of the cycling track along the northern riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Sand Martin Bridge and Banyan Bridge will be closed from 7am to 3 pm.

(3) Tai Po

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented in Tai Po from 7am to 2pm:

     Dai King Street, Dai Hei Street and a section of Dai Kwai Street between Dai Cheong Street and Tai Po Waterfront Park will be closed to all traffic except taxis and vehicles with prior approval. The cycling track inside Tai Po Waterfront Park near Tai Po Industrial Estate will be closed.

     A temporary taxi stand will be set up on Dai Hei Street west of its junction with Dai Kwai Street.

     The metered carpark on Dai Shing Street and the metered parking spaces along Dai Hei Street and Dai King Street will be temporarily suspended.

(4) Tuen Mun

     A section of an unnamed access road connecting Wu Shan Raod (near Wu Hong Street) between its cul-de-sac and the entrance of the open-air carpark; and an unnamed access road connecting Liquefield Petroleum Gas Compound (near Wu Shan road) will be closed (except for vehicles permitted by Police on site) from 6am to 5pm.
