The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance wishes to alert members of the public to a fraudulent website with the domain name "www.hongkonginsurersregistry.com". The website looks similar to the official website of The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI). HKFI has clarified that it has no connection with the fraudulent website.
The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided his or her personal information to the website or has conducted any financial transactions through the website should contact HKFI at 6308 2175 or communications@hkfi.org.hk, or any local police station.
Any company carrying on insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorised by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 41). The full list of authorised insurers in Hong Kong can be found at www.oci.gov.hk/download/ins.pdf.
