The Legislative Council ("LegCo") held a blood donation event today (June 13) for the first time in the LegCo Complex. A total of 69 blood donors, including six LegCo Members, 23 LegCo Members' Assistants, 30 LegCo Secretariat staff members and 10 members of the public took part in this meaningful event.
The mobile collection team of the Hong Kong Red Cross set up a temporary station in the Dining Hall of the LegCo Complex from 11am to 6pm to facilitate the blood donation. LegCo Members who have joined the donation included Hon Fred Li, Hon Wong Kwok-hing, Hon Lee Wing-tat, Hon Cheung Kwok-che, Hon Paul Tse and Hon Tanya Chan.
The Legislature began to hold the blood donation event in 1988. To encourage more people to participate in this event, the Legislature started inviting members of the public to come to join the LegCo Members to give blood from 1993.
