The Government announced today (May 29) that the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury has appointed the new term of Statistics Advisory Board members for two years from June 1, 2012 to May 31, 2014.
The new term of the Statistics Advisory Board includes seven serving members and four newly appointed members. The four new members include Ms Christina Law Sau-mui (Vice President Chief Financial Officer, Asia Pacific of Intertek Testing Services Hong Kong Limited), Mr Anthony Leung Ming-tim (Managing Director Hong Kong and Macau of Federal Express (HK) Limited), Mr Patrick Ting Siu-yin (Director of Advance Pharmaceutical Company Limited) and Mr Jason Wong Chun-tat (Director and General Manager of Hong Thai Travel Services Limited).
A government spokesman said, "Members of the Statistics Advisory Board are established professionals of different disciplines. With their expertise and background in different sectors, we believe that members of the new term will provide valuable contribution to the work of the Statistics Advisory Board."
"We are also grateful to the outgoing members, Mr Chan Hok-fung, Mr Vincent Kwan Wing-shing, Dr Kelvin Leung Kai-yuen and Mr Peter Tam Chung-ho, for their invaluable support and advice to the Statistics Advisory Board which helped foster the government statistical development over the past years," the spokesman added.
The Statistics Advisory Board is a non-statutory advisory body established in 1972 to advise the Commissioner for Census and Statistics on matters pertaining to official statistical work. Its membership consists of professionals from the business sector, the academia and the community, which provides for a wide representation to assist the Commissioner in integrating views of data users, data suppliers and statisticians.
