Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, at a media session in Beijing today (March 6):
Reporter: Mr Tsang, have you received any instructions from the Central Government as to how to handle the advantages controversy, and will you submit your own guidelines to Mr Andrew Li's subcommittee for its reference?
Chief Executive: First of all, whenever I come to the annual meeting of the National People's Congress, I have opportunities to meet senior leaders as well as heads of various ministries, and indeed in fact they understand Hong Kong matters very well. Everything which we do is well reported by you professionals, including the controversy you mentioned, and of course my main purpose is to exchange views on matters with great common interest.
There is one common theme they expressed to me: that they have whole-hearted support for the Chief Executive and for the SAR Government in discharging its lawful duties, and they have given me words of encouragement. I am very grateful for that.
