The Transport Department (TD) today (March 1) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Central from about 4am on Sunday (March 4) to facilitate the holding of a cycling marathon.
The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:
Road closures
------------
The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic:
1. Edinburgh Place east of City Hall (except for vehicles leaving City Hall car park);
2. Edinburgh Place north of City Hall (except for vehicles leaving City Hall car park); and
3. Lung Wo Road (except for the slow lane of the section of Lung Wo Road westbound between Tim Wa Avenue and Edinburgh Place).
Public transport services
-------------------------
During the period of road closures, New World First Bus Route H2 will be temporarily diverted. The bus company will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangement.
The TD anticipates that traffic in Central would be congested on that day. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further queries, please contact the 1823 Call Centre (Tel: 1823).
