The Education Bureau (EDB) today (February 16) reminded students who have plans to enroll in the pilot scheme, whereby 63 Mainland higher education institutions will exempt Hong Kong students from taking the Joint Entrance Examination for Universities in the Mainland, that they should file their online applications starting next Monday (February 20).
According to the detailed arrangements for the pilot scheme announced by the Ministry of Education, 63 Mainland higher education institutions will consider the admission of Hong Kong students based on their results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) and the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), thus exempting them from taking the Joint Entrance Examination for Universities in the Mainland.
An EDB spokesman said candidates sitting for the HKDSE and the HKALE in 2012 are eligible for enrollment in the pilot scheme.
"The enrollment process will consist of both online application and subsequent on-site confirmation of application. The Ministry of Education has commissioned the Co-Office of the Mainland Chinese Universities and Colleges of P.R. China for the Joint Examinations and Enrollment of the Students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese-Resident Areas and Countries (Joint Enrollment Office) to handle online application and admissions screening. It has also commissioned the China Education Exchange (HK) Centre for on-site confirmation of applications, eligibility vetting and admissions publicity," the spokesman said.
Students should file their online applications at the website of the Joint Enrollment Office (www.ecogd.edu.cn/lzbm/ks/index.jsp) from February 20 to March 5. On-site confirmation will be conducted from March 1 to March 15 at the following addresses:
1. Office of the China Education Exchange (HK) Centre (2305, Hing Yip Commercial Centre, 272-284 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong. Enquiry Hotline: 2542 4811)
2. Centre for on-site confirmation for the Pilot Scheme (934, 9/F, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong)
Candidates should, after completing online application, attend on-site verification in person at the time and place confirmed by the online application system.
According to the admission procedure for 2012, institutions may arrange interviews based on the application information submitted by candidates and announce lists of conditional offers in mid-May. The formal admission stage will start in late July. Institutions will announce admission results before August 3.
