The Legislative Council (LegCo) will issue special "Legislative Council Complex" - "Heartwarming Stamps" pane and datestamped souvenir cover on January 11 to mark the opening of the LegCo Complex at Tamar to members of the public on the same day.
The LegCo Complex is the first purpose-built accommodation for the Hong Kong Legislature. Its construction commenced in 2008 and was completed in 2011. Comprising the Council Block, the Office Block and the adjoining open space, the Complex offers conference facilities required for the Council business, office accommodation for LegCo members and staff, alongside a wide range of facilities for the public. More members of the public are able to observe meetings at the public galleries of the Chamber and conference rooms and participate in the educational programmes conducted in various new facilities of the Complex.
The "Legislative Council Complex" - "Heartwarming Stamps" pane, priced at $50, contains 12 commemorative stamps in local mail postage portraying various features of the LegCo Complex, including full view of the Complex, the Chamber, the Public/Press Gallery of the Chamber, and conference rooms, in the new era of greater public engagement.
The "Legislative Council Complex" - datestamped souvenir cover, priced at $8, is affixed with a "Heartwarming Stamp" featuring the Chamber where Council meetings are held to enact laws, raise questions and hold debates on public issues. The souvenir cover is cancelled with the datestamp of the "Philatelic Bureau (Lantau Link)" pictorial postmark of the Hongkong Post dated January 11.
In addition, a gift pack, containing a "Heartwarming Stamps" pane and a datestamped souvenir cover, is also available for sale at $80.
The "Legislative Council Complex" - "Heartwarming Stamps" pane and datestamped souvenir cover, and the gift pack will be available for sale at the LegCo Complex, 1 Legislative Council Road, Central, Hong Kong, from January 11 during office hours between 9am and 6pm, while stocks last.
